Maarten Van der Heyden

About me

My name is Maarten Van der Heyden and I live in East-Flanders, Belgium. I studied Applied Psychology at HoWest, a Belgian college.

Helping people has always been a something I loved doing. At a young age I knew that I wanted to pursue a career with that in mind.

It is my goal to try and help people to the best of my capabilities. Every year I make sure to read new books and take new courses to broaden my knowledge and learn new ways to help my clients. After I graduated I have now also finished two extra courses: "Emotion management” and “Clinical psychology”.

My interests vary from history and space to movies and series. But outside of psychology my biggest passion is gaming. On top of the beautiful stories and art I have experienced in this medium I have also made life long friends.

That is why I wanted to combine my two passions. Helping people through psychology with extra focus on gamers who are struggling mentally.

I’ve known Maarten for many years now. Even if we don’t play games anymore, he’s still a dear friend of mine who still helps me with my real life hardships, and always finds a way to make me feel good about myself when I have a problem.

His communication style is respectful and encouraging, he’s attentive and insightful and nurtures the good rapport once established. He has led me down to multiple avenues of self-discovery for which I am very grateful for.
